The Herbaliser DJ's
Back in 2000, West London’s funky, forward-thinking, experimental hip-hop collective The Herbaliser released their acclaimed double-vinyl album Session 1. Recorded in raw and organic studio jams, these expansive instrumentals marked the group’s evolution from studio boffins to full big-band line-up. Over a decade later, The Herbaliser are in the middle of another new musical evolution. One recurring thread across their music is a clear love of cinematic moods and atmospheres - whether in funky, revved-up, infectious party grooves or in psychedelic sci-fi epics like Moon Sequence...

Dr Meaker
Dr Meaker are one of Bristol's prize assets. Whilst their music has been compared to the likes of Reprazent and Massive Attack, many have been won over by their energetic live performances, tight production, quality writing and their ability to effortlessly mix soul fused drum n bass with heavier licks. It'd be difficult to place Dr Meaker into any one genre, certainly Drum N Bass is their primary calling, but as you journey through their album, a theme evolves that can be best described as Bristol Soul. On the live circuit the Dr Meaker 7 piece band made up of sax, keys, drums, guitar, bass and an vocalist plus mc and they had a busy live schedule of 2009, playing rip roaring sets at venues across the country supporting Sugarhill Gang and Lethal Bizzle on the way as well as higher profile events such as Glastonbury.

Asazi Space Funk Explosion
Asazi Space Funk Explosion first came together in the summer of 2003 in a darkened basement in London’s Camden. A combination of South African Kholeho “Asazi” Mosala’s rabble-rousing vocals and traditional percussion, and UK-born Alex Marten’s spacey, dubbed-out keys and skanking guitar fx, they initially played a string of gigs in North London with a motley ever-changing crew of rhythm sections, cobbled together from some of the best session and gigging musicians in London at the time. Blending traditional African vocal stylings and marimba (wooden xylophone) with cutting edge 21st century sounds and a tight, funked up rhythm section, this was when they came into their own. A string of legendary, packed-out gigs at Edinburgh’s Jazz Bar, Bongo Club, Left Bank, Outhouse, Forest Café and at the Knockengorroch Festival in Dumfriesshire brought them a new fan-base, not quite sure what they were hearing but wanting more of this strange, other-worldly funk and of Asazi’s powerful, magnetic personality and irresistible, treacle-rich voice.
